The Ministry of Altar Servers is recruiting young people in 5thgrade and up and who have received their 1st Eucharist. We offer an excellent opportunity for young people to grow in their faith and become more active in the church!
We know children's busy weekend schedules, be it sports, academic or extracurricular, and their proposed benefits. So what does serving at Mass have to offer?
There are lots of reasons for becoming an Altar Server. Serving is a great place for youngsters to start learning life skills they will need to become responsible adults. Skills such as communication, teamwork, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility, just to name a few. And most of all, it teaches them to love, honor, and praise God.
Being an Altar Server is not simply doing things and getting things for the priests. Serving at Mass involves the unique job of helping focus the community's attention on the Eucharistic Celebration, uniting their actions with that of the priest and should be considered a great privilege.
Being a Server means that you are exceptional in that Jesus lets you serve him, and it is an honor much more significant than any reward you could ever receive!
Dear Lord, may we continue to be blessed with young people to serve at the Altar, enhancing a prayerful experience for all. Amen
